You&#8217;ll discover an impressive collection of weapons and armour (and even a big surprise!). Some of the implements of war have even been recreated in life size, such as the great tower crossbow, the bombard or the different types of trebuchets. A number of highly instructive models and audiovisuals help visitors to understand the different ways in which a castle was attacked and defended in medieval times.<\/p>\n<p>Ch\u00e2teau de Castelnaud offers a wide range of activities during the school holidays, all of which are sure to delight your children: a storytelling show, a demonstration of blacksmithing, trebuchet firing and blacksmithing, a sword-fighting lesson and an armour fitting.<\/p>\n<p>The Ch\u00e2teau is open every day of the year and tours are free; a tour booklet translated into 10 languages is available.<\/p>\n<p>And don&#8217;t forget: you can combine your visit to the ch\u00e2teau with that of the Jardins de Marqueyssac, just opposite, at a discounted price.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We visited it for you ! <span style=\"color: #bba253;\">Distance from La Barde: 20 minutes<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Castelnaud is a typical fortified castle in the South West of France.
