It&#8217;s an atypical treasure trove of charm, nestling between the cliffs and the river <strong>Dordogne<\/strong>. Facing due south, it enjoys an almost Mediterranean micro-climate. So it&#8217;s quite surprising to find an exotic garden with palm trees, banana trees, agaves, fig trees, cacti, bamboo&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>On the heights of the village, you will notice a staircase leading to a troglodytic fort built in the 12th century at a height of 40 metres. Built right into the steep cliff face, it was impossible for invaders to climb, making it a highly sophisticated defensive system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We&#8217;ve visited and revisited it for you! <span style=\"color: #bba253;\">Distance fromLa Barde: 10 minutes<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La Roque-Gageac is one of the first villages to visit in the <strong>Dordogne-P\u00e9rigord<\/strong>. It&#8217;s very small but full of hidden treasures that we recommend you discover on foot, by gabarre, or even on a guided tour.
