{"id":1802,"date":"2024-05-17T15:59:08","date_gmt":"2024-05-17T13:59:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.labardemontfort.com\/domme\/"},"modified":"2025-02-20T15:58:51","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T15:58:51","slug":"domme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labardemontfort.com\/en\/domme\/","title":{"rendered":"Domme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sublabel lazylate\"><span style=\"color: #566276;\">A bastide, a belvedere<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #bba253;\">Domme<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A bastide town in the <strong>Perigord Noir<\/strong>, <strong>Domme<\/strong> is perched on a vertiginous cliff overlooking the <strong>Dordogne valley<\/strong>. It offers a breathtaking viewpoint from which you can see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labardemontfort.com\/en\/la-roque-gageac\/\">La Roque-Gageac<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labardemontfort.com\/en\/beynac-forteresse-medievale\/\">Beynac<\/a> and even the Ch\u00e2teau de Montfort!<\/p>\n<p>Domme also tells the story of the Templars who were imprisoned in the Porte des Tours in 1307. They left numerous graffiti there, moving testimonies to their faith. 7 paintings were engraved, all linked to religious iconography and delivering a mysterious message that no-one has been able to decipher to this day. Perhaps these engravings conceal the Spiritual Treasure of the famous Knights of the Order of the Temple&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The village itself has a main thoroughfare leading from the village square to the lookout point. There are a number of stalls selling arts and crafts and local produce. Don&#8217;t hesitate to lose yourself in the picturesque narrow streets, and walk along the belvedere to a garden and a mill.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We like to go there regularly, whatever the season! <span style=\"color: #bba253;\">Distance from La Barde: 15 minutes<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the off-season, you can easily park in one of the car parks at the top of the village.
